Help scratch and established dental practices rank higher on search engines by leveraging white hat SEO strategies
When
March 2019 - February 2020
Who
Amanda Lin and Lauren Bennett
As an SEO specialist at Wonderist Agency, I drove SEO and content strategy to help dental practices appear higher search engine result pages. I worked alongside copywriters, web developers, and directly with clients to drive organic traffic and conversions.

I also helped establish department processes and created internal training documents to assist the broader team understand SEO.

SEO Strategy

A good SEO strategy starts before a site is built. When possible, I worked would with our branding team to guarantee that my scratch clients had a unique practice name that wouldn't compete with any existing brands.

Prior to building our clients a new site, I created spider-friendly sitemaps that included content direction for each page.

I used numerous white hat SEO strategies and stayed up-to-date with Google's algorithm updates to help my clients rank. This included:
  • Researching and creating a keyword list for each client based on their specialization or desired services
  • Optimizing on-page content and back-end elements for specific keywords
  • Strategically linking internal and external pages within the content
  • Curating monthly SEO blog topics to add to service pages or blog posts
  • Implementing local business and FAQ schema
  • Adding backlinks on high-authority, local, and dental-specific directories
  • Creating 301 redirect files, when needed
Tools I Used
Keywords Everywhere, Screaming Frog, Ahrefs, Slickplan, CallRail, Moz, Google Analytics & Search Console, Yoast, Structured Data Testing Tool, BrightLocal, AgencyAnalytics and more.
Keyword growth for Delaware Dental Studio
Organic search traffic growth for Lakeshore Dental Studio (Note: There is a drastic dip in the number of sessions to the site because the data was captured early in the month.)
Organic goal completions for Lakeshore Dental Studio (Note: There is a drastic dip in the number of goal completions because the data was captured early in the month.)

Other Work

Establishing Processes
I was the 2nd SEO specialist to join the Digital Search team at Wonderist. Working at a smaller and younger agency allowed me to participate in process building. I played a part in developing their current backlink strategy, building the Slickplan sitemap execution, and spearheaded the Main Nav revamp.
A Beginner's Guide to Dental SEO
After recognizing how complex and difficult SEO could be to understand, I wanted to create a resource guide that our team and clients could use to learn more. I wrote a 15-page document that explains what SEO is, the importance of incorporating it into their digital marketing strategy, and tips and tricks on how to implement it on your own. The guide also included a glossary of commonly used, but more commonly misunderstood, terms. You can read the guide here.
Diving Into UX
Curious to learn more about web design and user behaviors, I partnered with one of our web designers to create a UX research team. Our team consisted of people from different teams--digital search, content, web design, and graphic design, so that we could get different creative perspectives. We did exercises to identify different customer types, problems, and solutions. We used scroll and heat maps, CTRs, and more to study our sites and learn how our client's potential patients use a site and what causes them to stop and stay. We implemented our learnings into new sites and continuously conducted A/B tests to learn more and iterate again.
Let's collaborate.
Whether you're looking to create a seamless in-app experience or need marketing collateral, I can help.
